Episode 12 : 화폐전쟁 – 남들의 전쟁이 아니다.
물론 IMF 구제금융 사태로부터 촉발된 이런 상황이 꼭 나쁜 것만은 아닙니다. 돈의 효율을 극대화한 금융시스템의 도입은 우리에게 우물 안 개구리에서 벗어나 그들과 공정하게 경쟁할 수 있는 기반을 제공하고 있습니다.
하지만 문제는 서구자본주의가 산업혁명 이후 수 백 년간 훈련하며 안착시킨 금융시스템을 갑작스레 도입하게 된 우리는 이 시스템에 적응할 수 있는 충분한 시간적인 여유가 없었다는 것입니다.
게다가 더 큰 문제는 우리나라 사람 대부분이 그런 것이 문제가 되리라고 생각지도 못하고 있다는 것입니다.
사람의 생각은 물질과 달리 변화하는 데 꽤 많은 시간과 노력이 필요합니다. 세계는 이미 클라우드 컴퓨팅 시대가 되었는데 아직 컴퓨터를 다룰 줄 모르는 사람이 있듯이 말이지요.
우리의 개발도상국 사회구조는 단 3년 만에 선진국의 구조로 변모해 버렸지만 우리의 생각이 바뀌는 데는 30년이 걸릴 지도 모릅니다. 이것은 앞으로도 오랫동안 우리에게 매우 큰 문제를 일으킬 것입니다.
이미 서구열강의 국제 자본은 돈의 본질에 대해 명확히 알고 있고, 다양하고 많은 경험을 통해 돈을 조절하는 방법에 대해 연구해 왔습니다. 자본이 세계를 어떻게 지배할 수 있는 지에 대해 너무도 잘 알고 있습니다. 우리는 이제 그들이 만든 경기장에서 그들이 결정한 게임의 규칙에 따라 생사를 걸고 싸워야 하는 형국인 것이지요.
우리가 과연 이 싸움에서 이길 수 있을까요?
이길 수는 없다고 하더라도 최소한 지지는 않을 방법을 찾아야 하지 않을까요?
그래서 정확한 사실을 인식하고 이에 대처할 수 있는 역량을 키우는 것이 바로 나와 가정, 나아가 사회를 보호하고 지키는 것이라고 저는 믿습니다.
돈과 금융의 속성에 대해 명확히 이해하고 이를 잘 이용하여 스스로를 보호(Protection)하기 위한 꾸준한 공부와 전략적 사고가 필요한 시기입니다.
가치의 보유와 삶의 도구로 사용되는 이중성을 가진 돈에 대해 충분한 훈련 기간을 거친 프로선수와 이제 막 게임에 등장한 아마추어선수의 싸움은 겨우 시작입니다.
이제 화폐전쟁은 그 들만의 전쟁이 아닌 바로 나의 전쟁이 되어 버렸습니다.
모든 상황에 대해서는 두 가지의 관점이 존재합니다. 긍정적으로 상황을 바라보고 기회로 삼는 관점과 부정적으로 인식하고 포기하는 관점입니다. 두 가지 모두 필요한 관점이며 두 가지 모두 알고 있어야 객관적인 판단을 할 수 있습니다. 이를 위해 우리가 알고 있는 것을 한번 뒤집어 생각해보고 이해할 필요가 있습니다.

Currency War: Not Someone Else’s Battle.
The situation triggered by the IMF bailout is not entirely negative. The introduction of a financial system optimized for capital efficiency allows us to escape a closed economic mindset and compete on equal footing with global players.
However, the challenge is that we adopted a Western financial architecture—refined over centuries since the Industrial Revolution—without the temporal buffer needed for proper societal adaptation. An even greater issue is that most people in the country are unaware that such a gap in adaptation can become a serious structural problem.
Unlike material systems, shifts in collective thought require extensive time and effort. The world has already entered the era of cloud computing, yet there are still individuals who cannot operate a computer at all.
Our developing economy transformed into a developed-economy structure in just three years, but the transformation of our mindset may require thirty. This discrepancy will continue to generate significant challenges for us.
Meanwhile, Western powers and global capital already possess a clear understanding of the nature of money and have long studied how to manipulate capital flows. They know precisely how capital governs global systems. We now stand in an arena they built, playing by rules they designed, fighting a battle that determines our survival.
Can we win this battle? Even if victory is uncertain, we must at least find a way not to lose.
Recognizing objective realities and building the capacity to respond becomes the means by which individuals, families, and ultimately society can protect themselves.
This is a time that demands continual study and strategic thinking to understand the duality of money—as both a store of value and a tool for life—and to use that understanding for self-protection.
The contest between seasoned professionals who have trained for generations in the mechanics of money and amateur newcomers who have only recently entered the field has only just begun.
The currency war is no longer their war. It has become my war.
All situations can be viewed from two perspectives: one that perceives opportunity through a positive lens, and another that recognizes risk and considers withdrawal. Both perspectives are essential, and understanding both enables objective judgment. For this reason, it is necessary to invert assumptions and reconsider what we believe to be true.
