[Battle of Perception 99. Acne skincare (5) A-Solution Project]

Team Leader Shin brought the brand launch proposal once again to Executive Director Min. Since he had first submitted the plan, it had been rejected multiple times, which only led to a more detailed and refined execution plan. The brand name had not yet been finalized. The project was tentatively titled “A-Solution,” derived from the initial “b-Solution,” a placeholder inspired by a real acne treatment prescription from a university dermatology professor. The new name took only the initial of “Acne.”

“Executive Director Min, this is the launch proposal for A-Solution.”

When Shin laid the proposal form neatly in front of Min with the approval binder, Min let out a heavy sigh.

“Team Leader Shin, you’re one persistent guy. I really don’t want to put my signature on this. Just bypass me and get the president’s signature. Isn’t this something the company has already decided to proceed with anyway?”

“No, sir. Nothing can proceed without your approval. I truly want your signature on this. Please sign it.”

Min hesitated. He couldn’t bring himself to sign with his usual flair and decisiveness. But eventually, he signed.

“Are you really confident? Can you make this work?”

“Yes. I can do it. Please trust me.”

“Alright. I’ll trust you once more. Since you’re operating within your approved budget, make the decisions and carry them out as you see fit.”

“Yes, sir. Don’t worry. This will definitely succeed.”

And so, the A-Solution project was finally able to move forward with Executive Director Min’s approval.

The TFT regrouped. This time, because it was a specialized functional cosmetic product, only one change was made: the chief researcher in charge of basic formulation was replaced by Manager Kang from the R&D team. However, this time the concept, design, and development direction had all been sketched out in advance, so the task was not overly complex. The real challenges were the timeline—and the need for a strong, persuasive scientific rationale that would convince consumers of the acne treatment’s efficacy.

“The design stays as-is, so let’s start with mock-ups right away. Meanwhile, I’d like the development team to begin reviewing the formulation.”

At Shin’s instruction, the reunited TFT members looked energized, as if success was already theirs.

“The issue is R&D… Manager Kang, after reviewing the professor’s prescription, what do you think? Can we convert it into a cosmetic product?”

“There’s too much alcohol in it. It’s fine as a short-term treatment, but if used daily as a cosmetic, it could cause skin issues.”

Hearing that, Shin felt once again that nothing ever goes smoothly in cosmetics development—not even a single step. — To be continued —
