7. 강씨姜氏의 뿌리
환단고기 신시본기에서는 치우천황이 강씨라고 하였습니다.
“통지* 씨족략에, 치씨는 치우의 후손이라 하였고, 어떤 사람은 창힐과 고신이 다 치우의 후손으로 대극성에서 태어나 산동, 회수 북쪽에 옮겨 살았다 하니 치우천황의 영풍웅렬하심이 멀리까지 전파되었음을 이를 미루어 잘 알 수 있다.”[환단고기-신시본기]
* 통지 : 남송때 정초가 지음 삼황에서 수나라에 이르기까지 역대를 통괄적으로 기록한 역사책(전200권) 당나라 두우의 통전과 원나라 마단림의 문헌통고와 더불어 三通이라 한다.
강씨의 혈통은 呂尙강태공으로 내려오는데, 그에 대한 기록은 아래와 같습니다.
“옛날에 여상(강태공) 또한 치우의 후손이다. 고로 성이 강씨이니, 치우가 강수에 살면서 낳은 아들이 모두 강씨가 되었다.“(환단고기-신시본기)
8. 씨름의 원조
치우는 씨름의 원조입니다. 씨름을 중국에서는 각저희 또는 치우희라 합니다. 씨름하는 모습이 그려져 있는 고구려의 각저총 벽화를 통해서도 치우와의 관련성을 엿볼 수 있습니다.
중국의 씨름은 뿔이 달린 투구를 쓰고 겨룹니다. 우리나라 씨름에서는 샅바를 걸고 겨루되 쇠뿔 투구는 쓰지 않지만 대신 상 으로 뿔이 달린 황소를 주는데에서 치우 문화와 연결고리를 찾을 수 있습니 다. ‘우두머리’라는 말은 소뿔 달린 치우천황의 투구에서 비롯되었습니다.
국내에는 이 소머리와 관련된 지명이 여러 곳에서 발견됩니다.
춘천의 옛 지명인 우수주를 비롯하여 춘천시 우두동, 전남 여수시 돌산읍 우두리, 전남 완도군 약산면 우두리, 충남 당진군 당진읍 우두리, 경남 진주시 명석면 우수리 등이 있습니다.

- The Ancestral Roots of the Jiang Clan (姜氏)
According to the Shinshi Bon’gi of the Hwandangogi, Chiwoo Cheonhwang belonged to the Jiang (姜) clan.
“In the Tongzhi – Genealogical Records of Clans, it is said that the Chi clan were descendants of Chiwoo. Some claim that Cangjie and Goshin were also descendants of Chiwoo, born in Daegukseong and later migrating to the northern regions of Shandong and the Huai River. From this, it is clear that the heroic and majestic influence of Chiwoo Cheonhwang spread far and wide.” (Hwandangogi – Shinshi Bon’gi)
(Tongzhi was a comprehensive history written by Zheng Qiao during the Southern Song dynasty, covering the dynasties from the Three Sovereigns through the Sui dynasty in 200 volumes. Alongside Du You’s Tongdian of the Tang and Ma Duanlin’s Wenxian Tongkao of the Yuan, it is considered one of the “Three Tongs.”)
The Jiang lineage continued down to Lü Shang, better known as Jiang Taigong, with records describing this heritage as follows:
“In ancient times, Lü Shang (Jiang Taigong) was also a descendant of Chiwoo. Therefore, his surname was Jiang, for Chiwoo resided by the Jiang River, and all his sons born there took the surname Jiang.” (Hwandangogi – Shinshi Bon’gi)
- The Origin of Ssireum (Korean Wrestling)
Chiwoo is regarded as the progenitor of Ssireum, the traditional wrestling of Korea. In China, this form of wrestling is called Jiaoju (horn butting contest) or Chiwoo-hui (Chiwoo games). The murals of Gakjeochong (the “Tomb of Wrestling”) in Goguryeo, which depict wrestling scenes, also reflect this connection with Chiwoo.
In Chinese wrestling, contestants wore horned helmets when grappling. By contrast, in Korean Ssireum, wrestlers do not wear horned helmets but instead compete using the satba (belt). However, the awarding of horned bulls as prizes demonstrates a cultural link to the Chiwoo tradition. The Korean word udumeori (“leader” or “head”) itself derives from the horned helmet of Chiwoo Cheonhwang.
Toponyms across Korea preserve this heritage of “ox-head” symbolism. Examples include Usuju, the old name of Chuncheon, as well as Udu-dong in Chuncheon, Udu-ri in Dolsan-eup, Yeosu, Udu-ri in Yaksan-myeon, Wando, Udu-ri in Dangjin-eup, Dangjin, and Usu-ri in Myeongseok-myeon, Jinju.
